U.S. Embassy DCM meets with Amcham Board of Directors


On February 13th the Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) and Chargé of the U.S. Embassy in Rabat, Matt Lussenhop, visited the AmCham office for a lunch meeting with the Board of Directors.  The meeting was attended by Samir Benmakhlouf of Microsoft, Harjeet Grewal of Philip Morris, Aziz Bidah of Pricewaterhouse, Rabia El Alama, Managing Director of AmCham Morocco, Brian Shukan, US Consul General, Doug Wallace, Senior Commercial Officer with the U.S. Department of Commerce, and Erica Magallon, Economic Officer of The Casablanca Consulate General.  The meeting served as an opportunity for AmCham Board members to give a business environment briefing and share some of their concerns with the DCM.  Furthermore, the meeting allowed the AmCham to inform the DCM of upcoming events and new projects such as the AmCham Morocco-USA Export incubator.

AmCham and the US Embassy enjoy a longstanding strategic partnership. The AmCham and the U.S. Embassy organize joint events, advocate together on behalf of US Companies, and coordinate U.S.-Morocco business relation initiatives. In addition, the AmCham works closely with the Foreign Commercial Service based in Casablanca as well as with the Consular Section of the US Consulate.

Recently, AmCham has obtained a new U.S. Visa Appointment Program for its’ members as a fruit of this partnership called ‘‘Business Priority User (BPU)”.  BPU offers five appointment-slots every Wednesday for AmCham members travelling to the U.S.A. on business as well as to their immediate family members accompanying them on this trip.
