On Tuesday, March 11th, business leaders from Morocco and the U.S. met at Rick’s Café for a networking dinner to conclude the 2nd Annual U.S.-Morocco Business Development Conference. The conference, held in Rabat and Casablanca on March 10-11, served as an opportunity for business leaders to build relationships and share information which will expand trade and investment between the U.S. and Morocco.  The conference allowed Moroccan officials to promote Morocco as an ideal platform for investment as well as a gateway into the African market.

Representatives from a wide range of industries were present at the dinner including the energy sector, banking, consulting, marketing, and transportation as well as representatives from various government agencies who help facilitate international business.  For some, it was their first time seeing Morocco and gaining awareness of its potential as a reliable and strategic business partner. Conversation throughout the dinner was ripe with optimism about the future of business between Morocco and the U.S.

Topics of conversation included strengthening Morocco’s energy production, which includes the hope for establishing domestic oil production and development of exciting new green energy projects. Furthermore, the AmCham Morocco Export Incubator, and more generally ideas on how to boost Moroccan exports to the U.S. were discussed.  Perhaps the most important topic of conversation was the differences in business culture between the U.S. and Morocco and how to best reconcile these differences in order to promote healthy business relationships. Conversation covered a wide range of topics that will contribute to fostering a business environment that is transparent, productive, efficient, and beneficial to both Morocco and the U.S.
